Hi! I’m Goktug (Goku), a Turkish-American Industrial Design Lead with a collection of awards, patents, and a decade of building what’s next.

What I do best? I bring clarity to complex problems—through form, function, and products that matter. Creativity is present in every product and detail - and that's the spirit of CreativeNorm.

What am I known for? The police and firefighter radios you see out in the world. I’ve had the privilege of leading the design behind the entire portfolio below—built in collaboration with great teams and relied on by millions every day. Whether it’s the green or black ones, next time you spot one, feel free to say, “I know the designer.” :)

XE FIREFIGHTER RADIO

Designing for fireground chaos demands more than specs — it demands precision. I led the industrial design to deliver performance under pressure, without compromising usability or form.

This is for high-velocity human factors — because when it matters, failure isn’t an option. When users reach for a button, they know exactly where it is. Glove-ready controls, reinforced bumpers, NFPA compliant. Survives 40-foot drops, -20°C cold, and nonstop impact. Every detail came from field testing with real firefighters.

This is rugged, real-world design. Nothing extra. Nothing fake.

TLK 100

The TLK 100 is simple, tough, and everywhere — Apple Stores, Walmart, Target, you name it. I led its industrial design to deliver clarity and reliability in a compact form that works across continents.

It features a innovative dot matrix display for max durability — no glass to crack — and a stripped-down UI built for speed. Designed for distributed teams, it blends the feel of a two-way radio with the reach of global cellular.

No extras. No learning curve. Just press and talk.

XVE 500 SPEAKER MICROPHONE

The XVE500 Remote Speaker Microphone (RSM) represents a high point in design, distinguished by its striking two-tone appearance and well-balanced proportions. It's engineered for use in wet conditions, featuring a unique 45-degree angled microphone grill and trio of speaker pills for clear audio transmission. A standout feature is its integrated flashlight, equipped with a specially designed reflector to maximize performance in critical situations. Ergonomically crafted, the RSM's controls are intuitively placed for easy, blind operation during high-stress scenarios, such as firefighting. Its practical design was affirmed during a field visit in Chicago, where a firefighter attributed his life being saved to the RSM's accessible push-to-talk (PTT) button during a crucial moment. This testament underscores the XVE RSM's exceptional design, marrying practical functionality with life-saving dependability for first responders.

GENERAL MOTORS - Urban Mobility

As part of GM’s Urban Mobility Studio, I explored future-forward mobility experiences focused on connectivity, modularity, and user customization.

I led the design of a compact, stackable vehicle concept aimed at dense urban environments. The vision centered around adaptable hardware, shared infrastructure, and a seamless rider interface — with the goal of rethinking how micro-mobility could scale within GM’s ecosystem. This was an early look at the kind of modular mobility platform that could evolve with cities, users, and technology.
